New York City-Police recovered the limousine belonging to Edward N. Townsend, Jr., which was used in the theft, allegedly by the Townsend chauffeur, of an estimated $200,000 worth of Townsend family jewels. The jewel box which contained the jewels was found by police in the abandoned car along with the broken piece of a strand of pearls, shown in the foreground. The Townsend chauffeur and the jewels, with the exception of one ring uncovered in a pawnshop, are still unaccounted for.Photo measures 8 x 6inches. Photo is dated 10-26-1938.
