Description: Vintage 1942 Tydol Veedol road map of New Jersey, printed more than 82 years ago. It is a scarce wartime issue, with a printed military warning message on the front cover: "Oil is Ammunition. Use it Wisely." The illustration at the center shows a Minuteman above a scroll reading: "Buy War Savings Bonds and Stamps." This map opens to 18" x 24" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by H.M. Gousha. The map was distributed by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company in 1942 to promote its Tydol Flying A gasoline and Veedol motor oil. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: P-2. Population data is from the 1940 census. There's a road map of metropolitan New York, between Morristown, New Jersey and Bay Shore, Long Island, on the reverse side. A panel map gives good detail on the area between Newark and Jersey City, including the General Pulaski Skyway and the Holland Vehicular Tunnel. Condition: This map is in very good, lightly used condition, with minor fold wear and some smudges on the front and back covers. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
