Description: Maker: On the reverse of these 2 lovely lunch plates is mark number 34 of the Theodore Haviland company, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century. This mark was in use between 1903 and 1925. Source: third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. Design: The plates are lightly scalloped and beautifully hand painted with tiny pink roses and scrolls, in keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous and so coveted. Gold daubs add an additional touch of distinction. They are on Haviland's St Germain blank number 118. The pattern is called Schleiger 144. Many of the great Limoges companies produced variations of this classic and hugely popular pattern of delicate pink roses against a pure white background. That means these plates would easily blend into similar sets by many other Limoges makers. And of course, they would make a beautiful display on their own or as part of any collection of fine china. Haviland pattern identification disclaimer: Haviland produced between 30,000 and 60,000 china patterns, many with only slight variations, and the identification of this item's pattern is not guaranteed. If you are trying to match a Haviland pattern, please check all the photos in this listing very carefully against your own items to be sure this is the right pattern for you. Condition: The plates are numbered in the photos. Both plates have no nicks, chips, cracks, stains, repairs or crazing. Both have several faint utensil marks that can be seen in bright light. Plate 1 has light wear to the edge and daubs. Plate 2 has significant wear to the gold, especially to the daubs. Size: The plates are 9 inches wide and together weigh 1 pounds 7 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
