Description: CONDITION: Excellent This porcelain plate was produced in England by Royal Cauldon around 1900. It was produced especially for Davis & Collamore & Cole of New York. It is signed by the artist James Birbeck, Sr. The plate measures 8 3/4 inches in diameter. It is hand painted with a European grouse or capercaillie perched on a log in the woods. The bird is painted in all his natural splendor. There is a wonderful sense of depth, peering into the misty woods. Birbeck was a master at painting birds in their natural habitats. The scalloped border is trimmed with bands of cobalt blue accented with gold. #C425a Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay. You will be blocked from further purchases.
