Description: An antique brass perfume button marked “PARIS 1883” on the back. A cutout design with black velvet blossoms on twisted stems on the front - Victorian women would add perfume to the velvet to avoid staining their collars or cuffs with oil. Velvet is in good condition with some wear to the top right blossom. Button was once completely black, and was likely a component of mourning costume.
