Description: GOSHIN KARATE-DO HOME STUDY PROGRAM Goshin Karate, a three-rank, three DVD system of self-defense, teaches a system of empty-hand self-defense that harkens back to the original kara-te (China Hand) as it evolved in Okinawa from Chinese Chuan Fa and local fighting methods. Goshin Karate is foremost a striking system, depending on punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques. It also relies on one-step techinques and forms to teach its principles. Instructed by Kirk Simmons and Robert Shook, Goshin Karate offers a great system for those who want to learn a set of solid self-defense skills and techniques. Mr. Simmons holds Dan rankings in Sin Moo Hapkido, Moo Moo Kwan Hapkido, Taekwondo, Goshin Jujitsu, Chinese Kenpo (Chuan Fa), American Kenpo, Pressure Point Fighting and White Dragon Kempo. Mr. Shook holds Dan rankings in Sin Moo Hapkido, Goshin Jujitsu, Renzoku Jujitsu, Chinese Kenpo (Chuan Fa), American Kenpo, White Dragon Kempo and Kanshu Kenpo. Their efforts have been recognized by several organizations: World Martial Arts Masters Society, Budokaikan International, International Assembly of Sokeship, World Nibuikai Budo Federation, International Alliance of Martial Arts Masters and the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame. The Goshin Karate Black Belt series consists of three ranks - Green, Brown and 1st Black. Ranking is achievable via video testing. Testing is accomplished via video in which the student performs the requirements for each rank. If special circumstances exist, other ways to test can be discussed. Purchase includes a free membership in the Independent Martial Arts Federation, a $45 value. Testing is accomplished with YouTube (or similar) videos or DVD's in which the student performs the requirements for each rank. The testing fee is only $7 per test/rank, regularly $20, to cover shipping and materials.
