Description: (Hear) 1967 Billy Swan Pop Rock M- 45 (Friendship / You Got Me Laughin ) Billy Swan – “Friendship” b/w “You Got Me Laughin’” (Rising Sons 702). Good spring of 1967 pop rock release by the later country singer-songwriter, best known for his 1974 single, "I Can Help". Well-known in music circles since the early 1960's as a top songwriter, sideman and producer, Swan's songs have been covered successfully by Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and many others; one of the first he wrote, Lover Please, was a #7 hit for Clyde McPhatter in 1962 and his first attempt at production in 1969 birthed Tony Joe White’s “Polk Salad Annie”. Swan played bass guitar for Kris Kristofferson and then signed a solo recording deal with Monument Records. In 1967 he made this one self-penned pop rock release for Rising Sons, a subsidiary label of Monument, active from 1967-68. The flip is a Buzz Cason – Chip Young penned blues rock cut.
