Description: After more than 60 years of collecting, there are occasionally coins that literally move one to tears - these are some. A friend of mine passed away recently and his widow passed some of his coins along to me to sell. Tom was a US Army Combat Engineer and did two tours in Vietnam during the 1960s. He was an avid coin collector from an early age and took the opportunity during his tours to collect local coins and currency. He put together some interesting sets of coins and this lot represents coins issued during the continuing transition of French-Indochina to the Republic of Vietnam to “unification.” These start in 1940 with a beautiful 1940 10 centime coin with a classic design inspired by the French colonial government. I think the 1940-1945 coins here are the best designs as they capture the style from the French new-classical designs of the 1920-1930. These coins are circulated and the early ones 1940-1945 are the nicest ones in condition. As these need to find a new home, a neat collection with a solid history at a fair price and with FREE SHIPPING to within the US.
