FINE (trimmed) CONDITION ESTIMATED PRINT DATE: 1920s Very rare, original film still from Paramount's 1927 lost silent comedy, "Rolled Stockings," featuring 1920s flapper star Louise Brooks in one of her early starring roles! Brooks' iconic "bob" hairstyle and quintissential portrayals of independent and sexually liberated female characters, made her an archetype of the "roaring twenties". Her well-known penchant for being diffcult on set and with studio execs rendered her film career a short one. She had in fact disappeared from the canons of the silent age until being rediscovered in the 1950s. This limited exposure makes original film stills of Brooks very rare, very desirable, and very difficult to come by. Publicity film stills from Brooks' lost films are even more highly prized by collectors and film historians as they give a scarce glance into the original feature. This one is nearly 100 years old! The various grades we use are generally applied as follows: Near Mint - item is bright and clean, virtually defect-free and appears "like new"... image is sharp... any defects would be barely perceptible and only visible upon close inspection. Very Fine / Near Mint - at first glance appears near mint but upon close inspection very minor degradation or one or two very small defects become apparent. Very Fine - generally clean and bright and still high grade and desirable but may have a few small defects (e.g., minor corner crease, light bend, subtle image degradation, etc.). Fine - average grade... nice collectible item but defects are more noticable and apparent.. may have some soiling or image issues. Very Good - lower grade... wear and tear is readily apparent... item is still complete though. Good - low grade... heavy defects... could be a piece missing from a corner or a major tear.
