Description: Vintage Southwestern Native American 925 Sterling Silver Malachite Hat Pin. About me: I’m a small business owner, Mom of twin boys, professional oboist by trade, amateur prospector/gemologist, painter & professional event designer. You probably are wondering why my page is called “Northwest Oboe Cane”. That’s because it started as a music business and has expanded. The world has changed…so must I. Contact me if you have any questions. Please look at sizing carefully. Everything looks bigger on EBay because we need up close pictures for detail. High quality turquoise is sought after & expensive. Descriptions of items are researched to the best of my ability. If you have information that is helpful it is very welcome and appreciated. If you see errors in the listing please let me know. I’m a small business of 1 person trying to juggle my kids, and 3 other businesses besides this one. I aim to give as much detail and accuracy as possible. I try my best to give Great service to all my buyers. Please check out my other items and add me to your favorite sellers list. If a customer hasn’t paid or communicated after three days I’ll typically re-list the item. Extensions are totally fine as long as the buyer communicates. Reasonable negotiations welcome. Certain items are listed higher due to precious metals content, history, Collectors items or famous names attached to items. I make handmade fine rings and necklaces as well as sell vintage estate & other jewelry. Jewelry stores gouge customers whereas I try to only go a specific % above actual costs. If you want a custom ring or necklace made with a certain size in mind I’m happy to help. If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase please return it for a full refund. I want happy customers. Native American Jewelry: In general, Native American artists began using the sterling stamp in the 1950s and 1960s. So unmarked Native American items may indicate production in the first half of the 1900’s. Real Native/Southwest Jewelry typically has the highest quality turquoise along with silver. I test turquoise with acetone and a scratch test and silver with an acid test. Howlite would bleed blue with an acetone test.
