After winning his fourth Funny Car title in 1994, Force earned the nickname of "Brute Force" from drivers, and even announcers such as Steve Evans. From 1996-2002, John finished 1st all 7 years. In 2001, John had longtime friend and fellow drag racer Gary Densham drive a third car.
