Description: OK, So What Is It? A custom fit thumb rest for the latest version of the Rickenbacker 4003 bass requiring ZERO MODifications to your bass! This is a thicker version of our 4003v2 thumb rest (available in another listing). This fits the NEW STYLE PICKGUARD on the 2015 - 2023 Rickenbacker model 4003, 4003W, 4003S, and 4003S5. It is also on some of the 2014 4003W that were manufactured later in that year. The 4003v2 model is custom made for 4003 basses with that pickguard. It is very close, but not quite interchangeable with the 4001 or 4003 Model designs.Due to variations in models and years and the EXACT FIT these are made to, to have the fit and look to be right on, ALL models MUST use the appropriate version.It is not possible to offer a "one size fits all" version - Believe me it would make our lives easier! Those fit the classic one-piece 4003 pickguard used from the early 4003 years right up through the 2014/2015 transition to this new guard.The earliest 4003's with 2-piece pickguards may need a 4001 thumb rest, because of the variation in screw spacing. You see many Rics with a wear spot at the corner of the pickguard, where players try to"dig in", and many Rics with the chrome cover removed from the bridge pickup to allow finger style access. I designed this for my own 4003 to make it more comfortable to play and be able to keep the "cover on," for the classic look that is a big part of this bass for many Ric fans. This thumb rest is made out of 3/8 inch thick high quality, crystal clear polycarbonate, and precision CNC made in a machine shop here in the USA.The position and design mean NO NEW HOLES in your bass! It includes two pick guard screws which are slightly longer than the stock Ric screws, so you do not even change the screw holes by adding this on. It's invisible on guard from a few feet away.
